Hagalaz' Runedance
After her dark Aghast project, Andrea decided to explore the myths and magical tradition of her own culture. Like many other Metal and alternative bands in the 90's, she got inspired to start a "Folk project" to explore and experiment with traditional Folk music elements and expressed strong pro-Pagan/anti-Christian themes, a subject she had great insight about, of course, regarding her occult background. Indeed, it became a very successful yet challenging experiment. Hagalaz’ Runedance's enchanting music became very popular, even reached commercial popularity. The music has been described as Ambient Folk, Pagan Folk or Tribal, yet Andrea definitely has created her individual style. Involving a variety of musicians from alternative, medieval and Folk music scenes, she has been experimenting with ancient instruments and her voice. Some songs are magical experiences, describing visions and Seidr trances (Northern Shamanism).
Yet, Andrea announced, after a while, that traditional music and Germanic themes wasn't really something she wanted to continue working with. Back then she said: "I did the Hagalaz' Runedance project to show people how much the Church (and modern politics!) has demonised our culture, nature and goddess tradition. I thought this was quite an important issue to highlight. But I'm neither "Norse religious" or traditional by nature."
Andrea stopped Hagalaz' Runedance in 2001, and her last release came out in 2002. She is done with exploring Germanic themes and Folk music, and is very certain that she will not revive this project again.
She thus returned to her alternative, Metal and subcultural scene, and since then she creates freely just in the way she does it best: through Music, Art and writings of a dark esoteric nature, exploring her bizarre experiences and the shadow aspects of human nature.
Hagalaz' Runedance did also attract a number of "die-hard" fans from a "traditional Norse/Heathen" crowd, who did not like her being done and over with Germanic themes, and still today insult her over the Internet and don't want to accept that Hagalaz' Runedance is no more. Needless to say that this is extremely ridiculous and obsessive, but it thus shows what a strong impact Andrea makes with her works.
